HOT Solar Energy Solar Sipper Testimonials!

Solar Sipper saved us 75cents per watt on our 4 kW system. The process was so simple, and totally easy. We found four contractors on our own, then we found your site, one of the contractors we liked was registered with you- we joined a group, got the leveraged price and are so happy with our green energy usage now! Because you made the process more financially favorable we took the solar plunge, if we didn’t receive the extra group buy savings, we may not have gone solar. Thanks Solar Sipper!

Steve Arnold- You were the only site I found that could really save me money- it worked! Jeanne was so nice and helpful, the entire process was great! Solar Installation was the best choice for the environment, but financially I was skeptical, the extra discount helped push us over the edge!

Beginning from the first group webinar to the install and making last payment to the company I was skeptical you could really save me as much as you said, our 8 kW system is up and running, our utility bill was below $50 last month and I don’t have to feel guilty enjoying my beautiful hot tub and all the power it uses because it is clean energy! Thank you for the sanity!

When we installed a pool, we knew it would be expensive to heat, but the rising utility rates and economy made it a true hardship and a constant reminder every month when the utility bill came. For Us, solar makes 100% financial sense, that is for us, but we feel most home owners can justify it financially yet just don’t spend the time thinking about it as an investment. we have a financing plan that locks in our monthly utility payments for 10 years and we can enjoy our pool without the worry of its cost of use.

Solar has been a large topic of discussion at work as of late, and when I heard how solar sipper was savings folks money I thought about lunchtime with my coworkers and sharing two for 1 coupons, and the cost of candy in single servings at the gas station, and everywhere I looked, i kept seeing the benefits of buying as a group. It was very easy; the experience was pleasant, we made new friends in our community and feel great about our decision. Please don’t stop rocking!

Look, you guys are spectacular! That simple, you are just terrific! We went solar because the utility bill was crippling us, THE EXTRA $1.40 PERR WATT savings were unexpected until the end of our search process until we found you and it truly feels like we now have over $6,000 in our bank account if it weren’t for you and the solar sipper team! The solar sipper donations page should get a visit from every group member who saved thousands! Keep it up!

Attn: Prospective Home Owners! This works because the cost of solar panels is through the roof, the cost of panels is going down, but super slowly, because the companies saves on its bulk order, and the consumers save with the strength of numbers, this way of buying can really make a big impact! Our group buy was small and slow to form, but in three months, which worked because we were in no hurry, we were able to drop the cost of going solar by $2,800 net and that is very impressive! We received three estimates before and they were all advertised as 'competitive'.

Everyone! Take 10 minutes and email all your friends, coworkers, neighbors, anyone who will listen, we need more people to join, every additional group member not only saves individually, but as a group we all benefit from the addition of more folks. You can make a difference, each person tells more people and if we get together we can get a great deal. Getting 3 people equals a $1,000 savings guaranteed...

We have been researching solar for over two years, the prices have dropped over the last year or two by 10-15% for the residential market in San Diego when you get conventional estimates, you can find this data on the California Solar Initiative website, Solar Sipper organizes groups of 5 or more homes to save an additional 10 to 15%. We waited two years and went solar when we got a rate $1 less per watt than we have seen ANYWHERE else! Big time Savings! Well worth it!
Recommended especially if your utility stinks! And you don’t want to pay more for electricity for the next 25 years!

We had a hard time with different payback models, some companies said we had 6 years until we broke even, some companies said we had 12, we felt as if we were being mislead that solar made financial sense for our family. We talked to Jeanne from Solar Sipper and she was wonderful, she listen and said that our experience is all too common, companies try and get your business by making the deal look better than it is in terms of your payback time, we want to work with a partner who has our best interest at heart, and knows the impact of installing solar in your area. Some companies, especially if they don’t know you are getting multiple estimates will try and sell you at a per watt price of 2 years ago. Wake up market! Panel prices are cheaper today! The group buy model made sense for us!
Our install experience started off crummy, our group of three families was not having much luck in negotiating a one street install price, we were grouped with another estimate price, and weren’t allowed additional reductions although our situation was unique. We joined SolarSipper and were glad to see the open bidding process. The company we worked with to install solar was fantastic! They were exceptional! The installers friendly, the designers were consultative, the engineers are informative, and the CEO of the company even stopped by. I am an example of why a solar company would lower the price so much from individual direct sticker pricing, because the deal we was so good, I’m going to refer the company to all my friends, the first round of installs in my community was with the group buy, but their will be many more installs taking place, and the companies who are out performing work will be the ones who benefit the most. This is just human nature. Thank you Solarsipper, Jeanne, Pat and all your team who I’ve not yet spoken to!

I knew the Solar Sipper team was for me when Pat, my volunteer contact took the time to listen to my concerns and give me helpful tips and info that only an expert will know. The honest solar companies will not downplay the importance of cleaning your panels because it is true. Although it may be a hassle, and even cost you money if you choose to have the kid who mows your lawn do it, but they tell you, the ones who are all about the sale don’t mention it. Paul from SolarSipper gave me this great tip and saved me a couple grand on solar. My whole family thanks you!
My story is why nobody should install solar without SolarSipper. I received a solar quote with a manufacturers warranty included only- I was surprised to learn this warranty provides little warranty of anything, and that I would still be responsible for the labor cots if something went wrong with my solar system. Solar sipper checks out your contract and makes sure you are getting a fair deal, the panels they use are current and not outdated, the maintenance is addressed, and the deal makes sense! The amount of money we saved is clear, $3,800, but the certainty we had that we got a great deal, a warranty that covers us, top quality panels, and no worries- that is the not so obvious benefit of the group buy. I love the internet! I love solar sipper! I love the planet!

Yo dude! This is it! Don’t bother trying to haggle with companies, solar sipper does the work for you. The groups size makes contractors drop their price to rock bottom! You guys are saving me $4,128 after the federal solar rebate. I am ultra appreciative of your efforts and you deserve a major thumbs up! You saved our group of 20 close to one hundred grand. Rock on Sun Sippin' animals of the planet!

Why would anyone install solar in California or anywhere where there are enough people to form a group without the Sippers organization and unification of people power? When people unite and companies fight for all our business we all end up getting a big price break! This free service really helps people and is great. Thanks for your help and keep up the good work?

Act for the planet!

Our homeowners organization sent out a letter informing us of the group buy idea, it made sense, we checked it out, but the price was still expensive, over the course of 2 months our group tripled in size and the price of the install came down another 10% and now there are 9 homes in our community with solar! This type of warehouse, Costco store bulk purchase power is saving American’s millions of real dollars- good for us! Spread the word! Use computer technology to connect and save! This is why the internet was made! This is the purpose for communication! A bright future for one is a bright future for all!
Never did I think that you could have made such a major impact! I am so glad I found you! The difference between getting solar by ourselves vs. getting solar with you has been beyond noticeable. This is an example of technology acting in peoples favor. We had one friend of ours go solar, but didn't know 25 other people interested, we didn’t even know one, but because we got connected, we got power and we saved an impressive sum! We had all our questions answered, had no problems along the way, everything was 100% professional, the communication and gathering of the group was easy, I was informed during the entire process, the contractors worked quick and were ultra neat! For the first time we look forward to getting the utility bill! It was so easy! Every install experience should be like this!
Our Solar Sipper group buy leveraged saved our family $3,700. The advice of the solar sipper coordinator, in particular, Patricia saved us another few thousand, she suggested we get a small size system than we originally planned, this would require less panels and less upfront money, but allow our usage to fall into the lowest tier, and get us out of the peak rate tiers, it worked, we paid less upfront, and our bill is now tiny!

We need more online communication like this! More people need to user the power of the internet in this form!

The most effective way to do anything is as a team. The group worked together to find, screen and negotiate with a contractor, it took our group two months to reach the desired size and savings goal we had, but we were informed and saw our savings potential increase along the way. We felt as if we were working together and the friends I shared our plan with were all interested- by playing the strength of our numbers, we truly control the process, the contractor needs us, we have options. Solar Sipper was the best discovery I have met! Your work is appreciated!

RSingerHello

The most important lesson I learned:

Research, research and research some more. Group install potential is the only way to get contractors fighting to SAVE you money, there is no other way to get a contractor to continually lower their estimate offer while your situation does not change- the group works like a well oiled machine and s a total win win! The experience was a joy! We saved, the contractor got our business, the entire group got a great deal, the environment is better off, and our kids college fund is looking better!

We are very much appreciative! Keep rocking!
We remodeled our kitchen by searching for contractors from the phonebook, getting 4 or even 5 estimates to make sure you are getting a good selection, trying to negotiate specific pricing with each contractor, and then decide who is quality and for the best price is a ton of work. In the San Francisco Bay Area where I am from, there are over 65 solar companies that serve my area according to the CSLB search for contractors found here...directories such as this one say the best way is to find a great contractor and get a great deal is to get multiple quotes and then decide, but the real best way to hire a contractors is leverage your buying power, if two neighbors want to install a new fence on their property line, and agree to split the cost of the installation 50/50, and one of the neighbors has additional fence work the first neighbor benefits because the size of the job expanded and there is now a volume discount. The scenario with solar is much the same thing, but it is even more important, because solar energy adoption really can save the world!

Testimonials that just discuss the money they saved are great, but as a group, money was just part of the benefit. The savings was the original reason I signed up, but the biggest reward we received was meeting our neighbors! We not only came together as a community to save, we came together and became friends! There are so many nice, friendly and interesting people that live so close to you that you have never met. We recently celebrated our 1 month installation with a neighborhood solar cookoff, where 100% of the power needed to prepare the afternoon festivities was provided for by our new solar system! Thank you Solar Sipper for uniting our community! We all sipping the sun now!

I am Joe Carolla and I saved $5,000. I attribute my bank account to contain five thousand more dollars because I found the solar sipper community website online. My experience has been financially unbelievable. I have wanted to go solar for four years, I have had 7 different solar companies perform estimates, I have seen the out of pocket price of solar dip from over $40,000+ in 2008 to under $20,000+ in 2010 because of the Solar Sipper community of home owners who team up to save. My experience as a member of the Solar Sipper group buy yielded major savings because we as a group had one major factor in the price equation I s an individual did now have, we added the volume of the group, and with that power, we got a discount that was equivalent to the 25 homeowners who selected one company to use as a hole. I was beyond satisfied at every element of the group buy process, in fact I volunteered to represent our neighborhood.

I am kicking myself for not searching for others who were in the market for roof work, this group power movement could have saved us a lo rod money on the new roof we had installed last winter. Since our roof was redone, we have seen over 5 different roofing crews in the neighborhood, if we would have coordinated, we would have surely saved some cash. This was a smooth, and ultra efficient way for our neighbors to negotiate, we sized up our numbers and knew a solar company would be very happy to get all of our business. Solar Sipper keep shining and telling folks that together= THEY HAVE THE POWER!

I understood that a contractor can lower the price, but I never knew it was by so much. It makes sense, that as 1 home, you mean X amount the contractor, as 25 homes, you mean x multiple by 25 to the contractor, each additional person is part of the puzzle, and this is a contractors dream. Everybody is close by in an area, the work is done quick, the amount of vehicles and gas used is minimized, the pricing is not a problem, since each system works off of the watt model, and less than 5% of houses need an extra cost because of the difficulty of the installation added on. Thanks for your help~!
I recommend Solar Sipper 100%. My opinion on the program: you would be foolish not to have a close look at it! The folks in my neighborhood who organized the activity asked me to give my suggestions for how we could make it better: One Way: have more people know about it! I have no opinion that speaks louder than my experience and the extra three thousand dollars in my bank account because of the group buy our community organized. Each member was helpful in doing their part for the campaign we were able to bring more people on and addressed any concerns and moved the process forward to reach our goal, but the entire time we were working as a group of neighbors to do our part and better our community and it did not feel like work- thank you solar sipper! You made this savings possible and our community responded, uniting together and we really made it take off!
We live without too many folks by us, and we doubted the group buy model could have much of an impact on our install price because their aren’t many companies or people installing solar, and our group wouldn’t grow much- we were wrong! Our group buy had just 5 homes, but we saved $2,500 each. Each resident who joined the group was like another $500 off the already lowest price. Thank you for connecting us out here in the country and allowing us to save! I wish you much success in your effort to make solar part of more American’s energy usage by lowering the price. Keep empowering the number one reason people ignore solar (price) and more and more people will quickly begin to embrace solar.
Beyond satisfied here! We quickly assembled a group of 20 homeowner who were interested in solar, we discussed as a group whether we could really save up to $5,000 a person, and we turned out to be beyond right! We saved a full $1.50 per watt and our installs happened in the two week scheduled time period as promised. Their was no way we could afford over $7 a watt for a system that would off set over 90% of our usage, but with the sipper group, we came in UNDER budget! Muchos gracias!

Because of the additional $1 per watt savings we received, we were able to install the ideal size solar system for our home.

We saw a $2.50 cent per watt difference from the highest independent install estimate we received compared to the eventual price we got with the group buy. Most contractors are professional businesses and operate with the best intentions of their customers in mind, but it is clear that making a sale is not the only factor involved for a company, making a sales with a enough of a markup for them to make a profit is the equation consumers don’t think about, a contractor an really drop the price substantially, but it takes a really big job, or multiple homeowners to even begin to use volume to your advantage. We realize now that when we were getting quotes, we were really being sized up as to what the maximum amount of funds could be extracted from us. The group buy was our salvations a ton of people who know, care and will work to get the best price for the group is such a blessing to have on your side! Anyone considering solar should hear the benefits of the group buy!

Without a doubt attending the preliminary group buy meeting with my husband changed the future of our energy usage for the next 25 years. We were on the fence about solar, there were many pros, the price was the biggest con. We found two solar installers to be quality when doing our independent search, but the price was daunting, our salesperson informed us of the group buy, and we jumped on the opportunity. We most likely still would be paying the utility company if it weren't for the group buy. As a community, I feel we came together to really make a difference and stand up for the right to receive a discounted rate, we are being conscious of our green footprint on the planet while being conscious of the green footprint of our wallet! Please keep marching! This is the only way to go solar

Our community really came together and maximized the leverage we had to get a great deal. We were able to show the solar company the benefit of earning all our business eve though the discount was steep, but we also showed the residual benefit of all of the referrals 25 years worth of free advertising on our roofs would mean to the company and the company agreed. We were able to show that installing just above baseline cost to the company to over 10+ homes would produce at least 25 jobs if each household were to refer at least 1 potential new customer every 5 years. The company we worked with was great, as was the coordination of the solar sipper staff! My son is interning for solar sipper this summer and he is excited!

We are now volunteers for the solar sipper movement and have been truly blessed to meet so many wonderful neighbors of ours through this process. Neighbors stand together not only for our community, but for our planet. The union we were able to realize of 25 families led to an enormous impact on the final cost of our solar system, close to $4,000. This savings allowed us to upgrade our appliances, switch to more efficient bulbs, and seal drafts around doors and windows. Please be patient and keep spreading the word to the world, eventually one day the whole world will hear our message.
We were the second family to sign up for the group buy and were hopeful that more would sign up, but we were not banking on it. The odds of a dozen homeowners coming together in the next month just in our area seemed unlikely in such a short period of time, we would have been very pleased if even 4 or 5 homeowners joined and we were to save $1,000 to $1,500 additionally. We were the 2nd of 23 families and we saved over $3,500, more than double what we really anticipated. This was an excellent experience all around.

Jeff Stillman- satisfied solar home owner
ShhhbeStillman

When we heard from our neighbor that if 5 homeowners united to install solar, and we could save $1,500+ off the bottom line if we were the 6th, we listened, but when the group got up to 15 people, and we could save over $3,000 and $1.15 per watt from the lowest market price available to an individual install we had to jump on the opportunity. Everything was simple, explained to us clearly, zero pressure and totally transparent. An excellent organization with even better results! Please spread the word about Solar Sipper! It is a no brainer if you are planning on going solar, and if you are not convinced, this extra cherry on top will push you over the edge!
Solar was part of our long range plans so joining the group buy made sense, but we really had no intention to install until the price dropped The word on the street is panel prices will keep falling and lower prices are to come... I have been hearing this for years and was still waiting when the group buy opportunity presented itself. We saw the group with just a few members and less than $1,000 in savings per person when we joined, but as we grew and neared 10 members, the savings was approaching over $1 per watt, when we had 12 folks signed up, the installer set the maximum at $1.35 per watt off of individual market price and we made the jump! It will be another 5 years for prices to get anywhere near to the deal we got for the group, and by that time we will almost be at our payback point. Neighbors and Communities come together!
Holly Molly! Great Balls of Guacamole! $5.20 per watt!!! Joining the group savings was easy. By having homeowners who are committed to the environment and making a change, we were able to make the most of the opportunity and set the trend for the future of solar! COST EFFICIENCY: MORE PEOPLE WILL GO SOLAR IF IT IS MORE AFFORDABLE. This concept of communities and neighbors standing strong as one allows for real change to take place is in action with the sipper community and a “Congratulations Everyone!” I in order! The future is bright! Join a local group today!

To whom it may concern:

I joined the group buy skeptical, and upon receiving my first utility bill with a full month of solar on our roof, I realize that the group buy was the best thing that has ever happened to our family because of the computer. We connected with two dozen folks in our area who we pass in the grocery store, set next to at church, see around town and are thinking the same as use: 'Solar makes sense! Because we think alike, we buy alike, and we harnessed our powered, pointed it in a direction and all benefit!' The Iphone, wifi, and all o this technology can be daunting, but when it works to your advantage it is great! Everyone should sip if they solar!
Joining our solar sipper group buy felt like winning the lottery. We were researching solar and considering a less, ppa, or an upfront buy. We liked not paying much upfront, but want to own the equipment, as it turns out, our upfront amount was making us lean to a financing split, but the additional group buy savings allowed us to buy the full rntire system, and with any luck in 4 years our investment will have paid for itself. We are very much appreciative of the friendly folks who connected us to our neighbors. Solar Installation is really complicated when you are alone, but as a group, it seems so simple. Have a 5 minute conversation with your neighbor, and you’d be surprised how thinking about solar power is a common denominator.

Arturo Rodrigo
RaiderRorigoMissionCo

I was expecting a pitch! I had received three install estimates and was firmly leaning away from solar! We were thinking maybe double pained windows and new appliances were a better financial move for our family. installing solar as a community is EXACTLY THE SAME AS INSTALLING IT DIRECT except, that with a group, you have the negotiation power of an ARMY. This process, as a group representative was so enjoyable compared to being at the mercy of a company when we experienced very similar estimate by ourselves. You make buying fun! Getting a great deal and knowing about it is great!

Bralio Mercer
MercRider757

When you work as a team, you are able to be exponentially strong, we had a roof leak, and wanted to get a 2 for 1 roof replacement, panel mount, so we had to act quick,, our group buy had 7 folks and we still had a dollar a watt discount! The roof work was performed by a sub, the installer coordinated it, and our panels mounts are in flush! This was easier than I imagined and should really work for most folks.
If you are looking at a big ticket home improvement purchase, you must get your mindset away from 'This Old House' and into 21st century social networking... how can you make your social network work for you? Buy as a group... Tell all the people you know your plans, and if anyone you know is interested, now their a is a pair of you with twice the buying power. I looked on Craigslist for a solar installer, I was hoping to find a retired electrician or some idea I had in my mind... All I found were sketchy outdated panels, and no guarantees, negotiating with a company, just as one person is David and Goliath like, you can’t say if you drop the price by thousand below your lowest price, you’ll have my business, you have nothing to offer. Our solar community delivered the clear message that we wanted to be at $5.50 per watt, the company responded with how many kW we would need installed as a group, and three weeks later we began installs. The process makes sense for everyone!
We love the group buy concept We have used Groupon before and other volume discount incentives, but never with such an expensive, important and mass savings potential purchase as solar. We ultimately came close to saving $5,000. This is real money that would have left our family if it weren’t for the group’s savings power. The worry free element of the group buy is extremely important, when you know there are others with a vested interest going over every line of the contract, handling all details, research the type of panels that are being installed so you know they are not the two year old mode, you really start to feel as if you are hanging on for the savings ride and should do something to contribute. It was hard to imagine being so happy paying such a large some of money until we found the sipper community
So, I'm the last person who has jumped all over technology... I still dial up, I have less than 20 facebook friends, although there are others who have hundreds? The bottom line is social networking never appealed to me because I am happy with life off the computer, but when social networking can impact my pocket book, I'll listen. I joined up as part of the group interested in going solar in my county and realized, I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE! There are other people like me who are thinking about solar, and if we connect, and form a strategy, w could save some big bux!!! That is exactly what happened, it didn’t take more than a few different logins, I got all the information emailed to me, the contractors communicate via email, I attended a meeting walking distance from my house organized by a neighbor where other group participants and the contractor answered questions, and as a community we really came together! Online and Offline synergy! This is why this works!
Never did it occur to me that my neighbors and community was thinking the same thoughts I was. I bet at least one thousand out of one hundred thousand home owners are seriously contemplating the benefits that solar can have, an the reality is, the benefits of solar are available now, but the drawback is price! Price matters! Money does not grow on trees! And if even if 1% of the 1% of homeowners out of 100,000 get together, they can get solar at the LOWEST POSSIBLE PRICE ON THE PLANET. Nobody will get a better deal than a member of a 20+ person group buy. That is why I joined, and I'm glad I did!
I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING THE SOLAR ENERGY INDUSTRY FOR 10 YEARS. I have seen the price per watt installed drop from $10 to almost $5. It will keep dropping, but slowly, our environment, our planet, and my utility company is not waiting. I had a $350 utility bill no signs of slowing down. In 2004 I received a solar Quote for $70,000. The system we installed in early 2010 will cost us less than $20,000 after the local, state and federal incentives. The group buy way gets you the lowest possible net install price because it forces the contractors to fully analyze their margins and truly fight internally to lower the price as much as possible in order to win the group contract.
I am an installer for a Solar Company that has LOST two bids to do work for a group buy coop. We have lost because our owner was not willing to drop his margins to below 5%. We know for a act that the people who installed under the group buy price from the competition received the lowest possible price. Getting a group buy purchase price is equivalent to standing outside A FACTORY IN CHINA, BUYING THE PANELS DIRECT, hauling back to the USA and hiring an electrician from Home Depot to do the work. However, the group buy does not compromise the panel quality, warranty, th inverters are cutting edge and the owner receives every benefit minus the price. You guys are changing the world of Solar! Keep it up!
Now is the time to do something for the planet! The Price is right! Our family has received two different site surveys from solar companies over the last year. We were so surprised at how much of a price difference the group buy brought that it was a no brainer. This is just the smart way to install, my pocket book does not have a problem when you spend some money, but save on every possible corner of the process. Your dollar counts for more because it is part of a group, and together, we represent one enormous job for the solar company, because this works to everyones' advantage, the savings are ridiculous! I highly recommend the group buy! Thank you to all my neighbors and community members who have stepped up!
We were think about moving because our utility bill was too high! Our utility is a nightmare, over the last 10 years, prices have inched up at over 7% per year. We can’t live in the cold of winter or the heat of summer without using energy and we were paying at times as high as $500 a month. On a fixed income, we could not afford to do this and were thinking about leaving the area and the state. We received multiple estimates, discussed installing just a solar hot water heating system, but that was not a full service solution. The group buy allowed for our solar electric system to fully offset our usage and lowered not only our bill, but our impact on the environment.
Pat Yegar, my volunteer consultant from Solar Sipper is to be commended! Pat volunteers tirelessly to help homeowners and the planet. We heard about the group buy from our neighbors, but were not clear whether it was for us, we were uncomfortable with a set timetable and as teachers, wanted to install during a convenient time. Pat was able to accommodate our install request with the solar company and we were able to participate in the full savings of the group buy. All of our questions were answered, all details were provided and we felt completely comfortable the entire time, the experience could not have been better!

I'm writing this review for one reason: MONEY. We saved a small fortune with our group buy. 10 installs for one contractor and each got a dollar per watt discount off the lowest install price the company ever did… that is saying something when it comes to a deal! How much did this cost us? Nothing, we were on the mailing list, decided enough people made the jump where the savings was worth it and now our utility bill should never be over $25 a month for the next 30 years! That is what I’m talking about-S-A-V-I-N-G-S.
